The top headline in today’s news is taken right out of 2009. And 2007, for that matter.

NBA news: Greg Oden out for season again; Tony Parker, Eva Longoria file for divorce

Erin Was Yelling Tony Toni Tone?!

This is a recording. Portland Trail Blazers center Greg Oden hadn’t even played a game yet this year – and he’s already out for the season. He’ll have microfracture surgery on his left knee tomorrow. He had microfracture surgery on his right knee in his rookie season and missed most of last season after fracturing his left patella. In three and a half years, Oden has played 82 games, averaging 9.4 points and 7.3 rebounds.

Say it ain’t so. Tony Parker and Eva Longoria have split up. Longoria filed court papers to divorce the Spurs guard yesterday, citing irreconcilable differences. According to some sources, the split happened because Parker was “sexting” with Erin Barry, wife of former Dunk Contest winner Brent Barry.

Can we set up Eva and Evan Longoria? I know the joke is lame. But can we just get them together for one date?

MLB news: Felix Hernandez wins AL Cy Young; Gardenhire, Black named Managers of the Year; Justin Upton on the block?

There’s hope for the human race after all. For once, Cy Young voters didn’t overvalue wins and gave an award to a guy who pitched beautifully on a bad team.

Despite his 13-12 record, Felix Hernandez has been named the 2010 Cy Young Award winner. He led the American League in ERA and innings and finished second in strikeouts. The best pitcher won.

Ron Gardenhire has been named 2010 AL Manager of the Year after guiding the Minnesota Twins to their sixth AL Central title in the last nine years. It was his first win; he’d been runner up five other times.

San Diego’s Bud Black took the honor in the National League after guiding San Diego to an improbable 90-win season. He narrowly edged out Dusty Baker of Cincinnati.

Believe it or not, young Arizona Diamondbacks slugger and former No. 1 overall draft pick Justin Upton looks like he’s on the trading block. Reportedly, more than a dozen teams are after the 23-year-old, whose early-career development has been compared to Ken Griffey Jr.’s. So far, the chief suitor looks to be the Toronto Blue Jays, who would likely have to part with prized pitching prospect Kyle Drabek to land him.

NHL news: Darryl Sutter trades his son to Carolina

You can’t accuse Calgary Flames general manager Darryl Sutter of bias toward his son now, can you? Yesterday, he traded his son Brett and defenseman Ian White to the Carolina Hurricanes for defenseman Anton Babchuk and forward Tom Kostopoulos.

The kneejerk reaction is to assume Sutter traded Brett because his son was jailed last week following a bar fight. However, Sutter insists that he and the Hurricanes were discussing the trade several weeks ago. Brett will join his cousin Brandon on the Hurricanes. Brandon is the son of Brent, the Flames’ head coach.
